FLIR C5 is a pocketable thermal camera for documenting surface-temperature patterns during building and equipment inspections. Its thermal sensor shows temperature differences, while MSX adds visible-camera detail to make the scene easier to recognize. The touchscreen provides a standalone viewing and control interface, so it does not depend on attaching a module to a phone. Use it to identify areas that merit closer inspection, such as an unusual warm spot or an apparent air-leak pattern, and confirm the cause with an appropriate follow-up method. Thermal images do not reveal what is inside a wall or establish a diagnosis on their own. Native thermal resolution is 160 × 120; the larger display pixel count does not change that sensor detail.

Important buying checks
Thermal patterns need interpretation and confirmation; cannot see through walls.
- For transferred files or online features: the supported USB or Wi-Fi workflow.
- For interpreting significant findings: an appropriate independent inspection or measurement method.
Plan the complete setup
- Check the probe diameter, working distance and articulation or cable arrangement against the opening you need to inspect.
- For phone-connected tools, confirm the supported operating system, app and connector. Some products use their own screen instead.
- Thermal imaging shows surface-temperature patterns; a borescope supplies a visible view into an accessible space. Choose the technology for the observation you need.
