Research guide based on linked documentation; not a hands-on test.
The Elgato Facecam MK.2 is a candidate for a deliberate desktop camera setup where you will choose audio separately and can place yourself within its documented focus range. The selected black model is 20WAC9901. Confirm the MK.2 identity instead of transferring specifications from another Facecam generation.
Elgato’s technical specifications and model comparison provide the facts. HotBoxCams has not tested the camera’s low-light performance, output quality or software behavior on particular computers.

Fixed focus makes desk geometry a buying decision
Measure from the planned camera position to your face while sitting or standing naturally. The documented range is relevant on a deep desk or presentation station. It is especially relevant if you intend to hold an object very close to the lens: a clear face position does not prove that a close product demonstration will also be sharp.
That design can fit a consistent seated setup where the subject stays in a known place. If your work depends on frequent close-to-far changes, evaluate that requirement carefully rather than treating every webcam as an autofocus device.
Check the entire connection path
Elgato distinguishes uncompressed operation over USB 3 from MJPEG operation over USB 2. Inspect the computer port, cable and any hub or dock used in the actual setup. A USB-C connector fitting the camera does not establish the capabilities of everything farther along the connection.
Select the intended mode in the application and inspect a saved file. If 60 fps is central to the purchase, confirm that the destination and software will use it. A 60-fps local capability offers limited benefit when the finished output is configured differently.
Include the microphone and light in the budget
Facecam MK.2 does not include a microphone. Add an appropriate separate microphone or headset, or plan to use one you already own. Test the exact input selected in the application so the computer does not unexpectedly record from another device.
Room lighting and composition remain part of the result. Arrange a comfortable light that illuminates your face, check reflections in glasses and review the background. The camera specification cannot compensate for a setup that leaves the subject poorly lit or awkwardly framed.
A source discrepancy worth keeping visible
Elgato’s current technical page and comparison table give different field-of-view figures. We therefore do not use an unqualified angle as a purchasing promise. If the exact width of the view matters to your installation, seek clarification or evaluate the supported camera setup directly.
Before ordering, verify computer compatibility, the full USB route, working distance and separate audio. Then rehearse a representative recording with normal movement and speech. This model fits a buyer who wants its documented video modes as part of a complete desk production arrangement, rather than expecting a camera alone to supply the whole streaming system.
