The camera’s purchase price is one part of a working setup. Add the hardware, storage, power equipment, mounting, installation and recurring services you actually need. This calculator uses your own numbers; it does not retrieve retail prices or predict future fees.
Add camera hardware, shared equipment, installation and recurring services over your chosen ownership period. Every cost is your own estimate. Explore buying guides.
Separate one-time and recurring costs
The equipment subtotal multiplies the per-camera price by your camera count, then adds shared hardware, storage, accessories and installation. Enter each shared total once. If a recorder serves four cameras, do not accidentally charge its full price four times. Likewise, unpack a multiple-camera offer into the unit price you intend to use.
The recurring subtotal multiplies per-camera monthly costs by the camera count, adds any shared monthly cost, and applies the result over the planning period. Annual shared charges are counted in whole billing periods: the tool rounds the number of annual payments up. A 13-month plan therefore includes two annual payments if the entered service is prepaid annually.
Use the same scope for both options
Compare the same number of cameras, recording needs and ownership period. Include required hubs or recorders, cards, cables, power adapters, lenses, lighting or microphones where relevant. A body-only camera and a lens kit have different starting equipment; a cellular four-pack may require four separately priced transmission plans.
Use current quotes or your own budget estimates. Confirm tax, delivery, installation labor, optional features and cancellation conditions separately. Enter replacements or contingency amounts in a named hardware or accessory total only when you intend to include them. The calculator does not assume battery life, maintenance frequency, resale value or future subscription increases.
Check what the payment buys
A monthly service can pay for cloud storage, transmission, advanced alerts or a membership discount; these are different functions. Check the plan’s retained history, media allowance, account coverage and exact supported devices. A lower total is useful only when the setup still meets the task.
Use the subscription-free security guide or cellular plan guide to define the service requirements first. Then return to the compatibility checker and the department’s setup checklist to make sure the equipment you priced can do the intended job.
